Šibenik

Šibenik is a historic town in northern Dalmatia. In the very beginning, it was built as an old Croatian town - a fortress, at the foot of the fortress of St. Mihovila, which still dominates the old part of the city. It is located in a very protected natural harbor, where the karst beauty of the river Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea.
Today, Šibenik is the capital and cultural, administrative and tourist center of Šibenik-Knin County.
Thanks to its long and rich history, Šibenik is rich in cultural and historical monuments that attract more and more guests and visitors. The biggest attraction is certainly the Cathedral of St. Jacob, built over a hundred years and completed in the mid-16th century. Due to its uniqueness and the fact that it is built entirely of stone, it has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The panorama of Šibenik is dominated by four fortresses (St. Michael, St. John, St. Nicholas and Šubićevac), each of which offers a spectacular view of the city, the sea and nearby islands. Today, the forts serve as tourist attractions that can be seen, and each of them has a unique offer for tourists.
After a long tour of the city and its old stone streets, you can relax on the newly renovated city beach Banj, which offers a unique view of the old town and which offers numerous facilities ideal for children and fans of various sports activities.
To all nature lovers, we recommend a visit to the Krka and Kornati National Parks, to which daily excursions from the town itself are organized.
