Basic information about Skradin

Skradin is a little town situated on a upper end of Krka estuary on the enterance to National Park. It is only 19 kilometers far away from Šibenik. Skradin is attractive tourist destination with authentic stone inner city, in which surroundings are situated one of the most attractive destinations, some of which are waterfalls Skradinski buk and Roški slap with old watermills, as well as franciscan islet Visovac with rich library and artistic treasure.

Skradin has one of the most beautiful marinas in Croatia. The town has its beach, but people who prefer descreet beaches can find their spot out of town, counting on swans as an occasional visitors.Guests who decide to spend their vacation in Skradin can choose between private accommodation numerous private apartments and rooms and a hotel.

Skradin is one of the oldest towns in Croatia. On that area Ilirs used to have their settlement, and after them Romans founded the settlement called Scardona, because of very important strategic position. During history Skradin was under Turks, Venetian French and Austrian.Hungarian administration. It lost its importance when French built the road that led through Šibenik.

Church of Mala Gospa- with bell tower 20 meters away from the building, on a square in a town centre (18th century)

Orthodox church of St Spiridon , churches of St Petko and St Jeronim – in the town centre

Bribirska glavica – archeological site situated 15 kilometers away from Skradin – six thousand years old, on which area can be found the remains from ancient history, through Roman period and medieval times until today

Skradinski buk, Roški slap, Visovac (part of National park Krka) – during tourist season a frequent boat lines drive from Skradin to National park
