Basic information about Primošten
Primošten is one of the most famous and most picturesque small towns on the Adriatic. Is it situated on and small island, bounded with the mainland, sorrounded with seven islets. Its stone houses, churches, narrow alleys and lanes around old walls represent a perfect harmony between past and presence.

Primošten is also well known for famous red wine called Babić, which is produced from famous vineyards of Primošten, and the picture of the Primošten vineyard lays in the building of United Nations, as a symbol of human hard working during centuries.
Primošten is mentioned in an old documents as a Caput Cista (Naked Head). During Turk invasion in year 1542 the islet has been bounded with town wall with forts. It was connected to the mainland with a drawbridge. As the Turks pulled back, the bridge was replaced with a bulwark, and the town is named Primošten in year 1564 after a verb primostiti, which means bypass.
